Back to Nova Scotia!
Another early morning as we hit the road at 7:45 to get to the ferry on time. We drove to the southeast side of PEI to Woods Island to the ferry terminal. The sun was shining and the wind was moderate, perfect for a great crossing! It took us about 1.5 hours to cross back over to Nova Scotia, near Pictou. Since we were re-entering NS we had to show our paperwork. Luckily, this time the guy came onto the bus and just looked at our registration papers, making the process much faster than the last time.
We then travelled into the quaint little town of Pictou. Warwick walked us over to Mrs. MacGregor’s Shortbread shop so we could purchase some delicious shortbread. We then had time to walk around, take pictures and enjoy the sunshine!
Then, back on the bus for another hour to reach Aulds Cove. We stopped at a restaurant beside the water and had lunch in a closed in patio with a beautiful view. After lunch we crossed the Canso Causeway onto Cape Breton Island. We had a lovely drive to Baddeck, arriving just before 4:00. We went to the Alexander Graham Bell Museum, situated along the shores of Bras d’Or Lake. This is a huge lake situated in the middle of Cape Breton Island. We had an hour to go through the museum. Many of us cut out early so that we could enjoy the grounds and the views on a spectacular day! (It went up to 27 degrees).
At 5:00 we went to our hotel, the Inverary Resort, also located beside the lake! Everyone took advantage of the amazing weather and headed outside for a walk around the grounds or a drink on the outside patio. At 6:30 we went for the most amazing dinner yet! The food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful! We all waddled out of there with very full bellies! Moan……..
