On the Road Again!
Back to an early morning as we departed at 8 am. We rolled away from the resort to “On the Road Again”! I left my iPad on the bus last night so that is why I was slow in posting yesterday’s blog!
We have a long drive today, back to Halifax. It is drizzling but still warm. Warwick (our TD) is playing music chosen by us. He is also playing a game called “two truths and one lie”. We submit this him, he reads them out and we guess who submitted it as well as which was the lie. It is fun!
We stopped for lunch in a commercial square where we could choose a place to grab a light bite to eat. Many of us went to Sobey’s. It was raining lightly so we got back on the bus and ate our lunch. Then we went to the Millbrook Cultural Center where we learned about the Mi’kmaq community. A gentleman gave us a short talk and allowed us to ask him questions. Then we had the opportunity to be smudged and look around the museum. It was a very interesting visit.
Next we travelled to Halifax, in the pouring rain. We were starting to get the effects of hurricane Larry, due to hit landfall tonight. The 11 travellers that aren’t in our SK group will leave tomorrow. We will fly to St. John’s , NL. However, with hurricane Larry on the way, we are prepared for our flight to be delayed.
When we arrived in Halifax, we went to the Halifax Atlantic Museum. We had 1.5 hours to spend there. The Americans had to go to get their COVID test as they are flying home tomorrow. Part of the group spent the whole time at the museum while others took part of the time to walk along the harbor boardwalk. The bus picked us up at 3:45 and we drove about 40 minutes to “The Resto” restaurant. We once again got served an amazing meal. Poor Gunner had yet another bad episode. He was sneaking a drink from Michelle’s wine glass when he fell right into the glass!!! He is cut off for the rest of the trip!!
After our farewell dinner we drove about 30 minutes to our hotel, which is located only 10 minutes from the airport. We said our goodbyes to the rest of the group, as they all fly home tomorrow. We will be flying to St. John’s, Newfoundland tomorrow. We were supposed to depart at 8:00 am but our flight has been delayed until 10:15 to give hurricane Larry enough time to blow itself back out to sea! Here’s hoping! 🤞
