Prince Edward Island

We got to sleep in this morning as we didn’t need to meet until 9:45.  That felt good!!!  We left from the hotel on foot and walked a block to the Confederation building, where we learned about how Canada and our constitution was born.  After the talk we had some time to look around and take pictures. I set Gunner up in the Governor General’s chair for a picture.  I took some pictures of him but then got distracted b6 someone.  Soon it was time to leave.  We got about a block away when I wanted to take Gunner out for a picture.  When I went to find him, he wasn’t there!  That is when I realized that I had left him in the chair!!  I ran back while the group continued on.  🏃‍♀️ I scooped him up, ran back to the corner where I wanted to take his picture.  I set him up beside the little mouse on the wall, he fell down onto the sidewalk and broke off his other horn!!  Poor Gunner is now hornless! 😔

I caught up to the group at St. Dustan’s Basilica! 😮‍💨. We took some group pictures outside and then had time to go into the church.  It was beautiful.

The bus came there and we hopped in and headed to out into the country, a beautiful drive past green fields and lovely farms.  Everything is so clean and tidy, no garbage to be seen anywhere.  We stopped at a lovely restaurant called “Chez Yvonne” for lunch.  Then we continued on to Cavendish beach.  We had an hour to explore the beach on our own.  The sun was shining and it was quite warm but it was quite windy. There was beautiful sand with red soil cliffs and rocks behind.  A very unique setting.

When we left the beach we had a short drive to the Anne of Green Gables Museum.  A lady by the name of Pam greeted us and gave us a brief history of the home and then we were on our own to checkout  the home.  This house belonged to Lucy Maud Montgomery’s (author of Anne of Green Gables) aunt and uncle, Annie and John Campbell.  It is a beautiful property, overlooking a small lake.  We were then treated to tea and cookies in the cafe.  The molasses cookies were delicious!!

We then travelled back to Charlottetown and arrived back at 5:00 pm, just in time for happy hour at the hotel where we were served free beer and wine! 😋

We were on our own for dinner so we all set out in groups of four to six for dinner.  It was a lovely evening for walking to dinner and enjoying the downtown area.
