Quidi Vidi

 


We had the morning off!! It was so nice to not have to set the alarm!  We went for breakfast at our leisure and then set out to explore downtown St. John’s. Our hotel is perfectly located, beside the harbor and right








next to downtown.  Most of the shops were still closed so it was more sightseeing and window shopping.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day, calm, sunny and warm.

At 1:00 we regrouped on the bus and made the short drive to Quidi Vidi.  It is a wonderfully quaint little fishing village not far from the city.  We had two hours to explore and take pictures.  Most of us ended up at the Quidi Vidi Brewing company to soak up the sun and sample the local beer.  Very tasty!  They even had live music to enjoy!

At 3:00 we drove back into St. John’s and went to “The Rooms”.  It is a combination museum, art gallery and archives.  The design of the building is very unique.  We explored on our own.  The bus was there to shuttle us back to the hotel but some people opted to walk back.

At 6:00 we all walked over to a restaurant called “Get Stuffed” for an included dinner.  It is located in N old, beautifully refurbished home.  The meal was amazing, and we all definitely “got stuffed”.  Lots of laughter radiated from the two long tables!!  By the end of that meal, we were all ready to head back to the hotel and call it a night!  No partying on George street tonight!! 🤷‍♀️🥱

Home Sweet Home!

We had a relaxing morning as our flight didn’t depart until 2:00.  We flew to Toronto but then had a 5 hour layover! 🤨. We arrived back in Saskatoon around 11:15 pm.  It was a long day and I am sure everyone was happy to be heading home. The Cabot Trail

    What a treat!  We didn’t leave until 10:00 am, so we got to sleep in and also enjoy the resort before we took off.  Our mission today was to drive the scenic Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island.  We started out with sunny skies.  Our first stop was in Cheticamp for lunch at La Gabriel.  They served delicious fish and chips!  The bad news is, Gunner had another bad day! He hopped up on a lobster cafe to pose for a picture but he slipped and fell down onto the rocks!!  Poor Gunner!!  I took my life in my hands, climbed down and saved his Norse butt! 🤦‍♀️ It was a beautiful drive as we drove along the coast. The Highlands portion is a National park and we listened to a taped commentary as we drove along, giving us some history or information about particular areas. We made frequent stops to take pictures, go for short hikes and to soak up the amazing vistas.  One of our favourites was the stop at Black ...

Canadian Maritimes Tour

 I will begin by apologizing about the date!!!  Apparently I had a dyslexic moment! 🤦‍♀️ On September 3, 2021, 20 adventurous people are travelling with me to the Maritime provinces!!  We are pioneers in the new world of “Covid” travel!  We all have our vaccines, we have filled out a ream of paperwork and we are ready to go!!!  I hope you enjoy following our adventures!!!
